Are you struggling to find the perfect place to take for a photoshoot or film a movie?

Kenneth Law co-founder of FilmSkout.com, provides a convenient platform to share and get the good locations that you want.

Having been formed and actually winning last year’s Startup Weekend Hong Kong, Kenneth has continued his startup that grew out of his frustration to find decent locations for his film career and now looking to build a community of artists, photographers and filmmakers around the world.

Please introduce to yourself and what is your startup?
I am a certified film/video professional returning from the US in 2007 after 12 years abroad in the Silicon Valley and Seattle area.

Also a active member of the Hong Kong Startup community and I was an organizer of SWHK 2013 and a mentor at StartLabHK 2013.

My startup is called FilmSkout, a social platform for visual artists, filmmakers and photographers to share and discover locations that inspires them. (Winner of Startup Weekend Hong Kong 2012)

How did you come up with this idea?
Location scouting is one of the many pains I personally suffer as a film/video professional. Me and many of my colleagues suffer similar pains and I decided to act on solving these pain when I participated in Startup Weekend Hong Kong in November, 2012.

Who are you targeting and how big is the market in HK/Asia?
We are initially targeting visual artists, photographers, filmmakers and all creative types interested in storytelling through images. We are especially interested in aiding the growing micro-film trend representing an over 100 Billion RMB market in mainland China alone and seeing exponential increase both in production and advertising budget devoted to video and transmedia marketing.

What are your future plans for your startup?
We are close to launching our first product and is in the process of raising some seed capital to further develop and grow our user base. Also looking to partner with creative individuals and businesses interested in film/video.
