As an Ambassador of AngelHack Hong Kong, Harry Ng is often asked why he is organizing it as a volunteer. He was the winner of AngelHack Beijing, and learned a lot from the experience. So he want to bring this experience to people in my home town.

This is what you can get out of AngelHack:

1. Meet the developer community

AngelHack is THE BIGGEST global hackathon series, spanning more than 80 countries and bringing together the best talent in the world!

In each of the hackathons we organised in Hong Kong, more than 180 people joined, and 70% of them are developers. Others include designers and entrepreneurs. I always get asked how hard it is to hire developers? Well this is a great chance to meet the developers in the community.

2. Turn your Idea into Reality

If you have a KILLER idea which you want to make with the best talent, AngelHack is where you should go. As mentioned earlier, we have the best talent joining our hackathons.

Also, 24 hours over the weekend is the best time to dedicate your efforts in turning your idea into reality. Bring your friends with you and spend a weekend together building that product you keep talking about.

3. Join an accelerator

Winning team will be invited to HACKcelerator run by AngelHack. This is a 12-week program. Our local and global mentors will help you turn your hackathon idea into a startup reality.

Besides HACKcelerator, we have partnered with some other awesome accelerators in Asia, including Startup Bootcamp Fintech and Brinc. Teams with excellent ideas in these areas will get FastPass to pitch to and receive consultations from leading mentors.

4. Get to pitch to top investors in Silicon Valley

At the end of HACKcelerator program, you are invited to fly to Silicon Valley for our Global Demo Day. This will also include a week of extensive pitch training on your startup idea.

At the Global Demo Day, you get to pitch your idea to top investors in Silicon Valley. Last year, our Hong Kong team, Plain Exchange, notched up three awards at the Global Demo Day held in San Francisco. The team won the titles of Best FinTech, Best Startup and Overall Global Demo Day Winner.

5. A lot of prizes

Prizes just make hackathons more fun. That’s why each year, we team up with our sponsors locally and globally to bring you an awesome set of prizes. Here are some of these:

  • Amazon $100 Credits
  • GoPro Camera
  • Wacom Bamboo Spark
  • FREE seats in co-working spaces
  • FREE tickets to conferences
  • Many more…

Check out the details in our event page.

Besides the hackathon, we have aligned many events between 12–22 May, 2016. You can find out more by visiting here.
