Crowdfunding 2.0: The New Go-to-Market – Ben Bateman, Indiegogo

“Having worked with Brinc for the past year on several hardware projects and campaigns, I’m excited to be speaking at Hong Kong’s first consumer IoT conference. Given my role and involvement with hardware campaigns at Indiegogo, I’m naturally excited to meet with more founders, check out potential campaigns and of course the opportunity to see and play with anything related to the latest trends in robotics, VR, cars is a bonus for me.

I’m most excited about seeing new software layers on top of the hardware that’s being developed. New hardware can be very exciting. At LAUNCH I’ll be really excited to see how software and service providers are planning to collaborate more deeply with emerging hardware.

[Also] I hope to see in-depth sessions on where startup founders will get the critical information they need to understand how to validate their business models and get their product to market. We’re excited to work with partners like Brinc who can help startups to do this early and well. “

Investing in IoT: Making the leap from Software to Hardware – Christina Bechhold, Samsung Global Innovation Center

“You don’t need to live in Silicon Valley to be a successful IoT entrepreneur — there are great, supportive communities all over the world that can help you get started. Asia is home to massive, rapidly growing markets eager to access technology and investment and I’m looking forward to learning more about the many unique resources and platforms available to entrepreneurs. LAUNCH will be a great opportunity to meet key ecosystem players and gain direct access to the exciting innovation taking place across the continent.

We are surrounded by sensors, and carry computers full of them in our pockets, which collect vast reams of data. IoT is shifting from accumulating and displaying to analyzing, learning and sharing. My session will offer insights on how investors can evaluate relative value within the rapidly expanding IoT landscape as well as outline tools and metrics to track and measure progress. I’ll also share thoughts on how IoT founders can position their product to maximize investor interest, and how strategic investors like Samsung’s Global Innovation Center aim to support and accelerate success.”

Old Economy vs. New Economy: How Corporates Can Pivot and Learn from Startups in the IoT Age – Paul Lee, Aumeo Audio, Panelist

“It’s an amazing time to be an entrepreneur in Hong Kong. We’re already witnessing a new age of startups and founders that’s coinciding with the IoT trend in Hong Kong. I feel that we’re going to see this happening at the LAUNCH Summit with a lot more angel and local investors who have traditionally stood on the sidelines when it comes to investing in technology who are now doing things differently and looking more at IoT as a way to raise their own profiles and brands by supporting local entrepreneurs and doing good in Hong Kong. I’m prouder than ever of being part of a startup ecosystem that has continued to flourish by helping to drive the global IoT ecosystem and attract founders from all over the world.

As a former Silicon Valley veteran and one who also used to work in corporate, I returned to Hong Kong to get my startup off the ground. I think the panel I’m participating in on how corporates can connect with startups will help give real life examples on how corporates can work with startups to partner and create lasting value for consumers.”
