StartMeUpHK Venture Programme Launched By InvestHK; Encourages Entrepreneurs Worldwide to Come to Hong Kong

The startup community in Hong Kong is growing and only getting bigger with time.

And it’s about to get even bigger!

Realizing how important startups are to the economic climate of Hong Kong, InvestHK recently launched the StartmeupHK Venture Programme, a competition geared towards sparking the growth of new businesses in the region. This intensive programme is from December 4th – 7th 2013, and will allow twelve high impact entrepreneurs to showcase their vision to investors and compete for the sweet bonuses of the Grand StartmeupHK Awards.

Everyone is encouraged is apply, from locals to those looking to expand their startups globally. The chosen few will gain exclusive access to financial capital and partnership networks, high-level mentorship, market knowledge, and marketing opportunities. StartmeupHK will also include a forum with an impressive panel of judges and speakers. Here, entrepreneurs can pitch to a large pool of potential investors and business partners.

World Internet Developer Summit 2013 Engages Hong Kong’s Tech Sector with 2-Day Conference

The World Internet Developer Summit, hosted by the Internet Society Hong Kong,  was held last week at Cyberport and Hong Kong Science Park, two main technology centers in Hong Kong.

This seminar was jam-packed with guest speakers from around the world, all in attendance to educate and inform entrepreneurs about big data and the use of the cloud. With Hong Kong coming in third after Silicon Valley and New York as a tech center, this seminar was a great push in the right direction, with speakers from  Google, Twitter, LinkedIn, Blackberry and many more.

Jeremy Yuan,  the director of marketing for Evernote visited CoCoon last week, full of energy and fun giveaways. Celebrating its fifth birthday, Yuan remarked on how fitting it was for Evernote to be in Hong Kong—an industrial and business-oriented environment where productivity and efficiency is key. Evernote is made specifically with these key concepts in mind, organizing the many facets of a business and allowing each employee to access said information whenever needed.
