The SCMP Launches New Entrepreneur Magazine; Features WHub and Ambi Climate in First Issue

We told you about Jumpstart magazine – Hong Kong’s first entrepreneur magazine with a first issue devoted to tech startups and a second issue on foodpreneurs, now the South China Morning Post is stepping into the ring with their version called Inside Entrepreneur which will see both a print version as a supplement in their newspaper and a more reader-friendly online version – which you can download here and throw onto your iPad and read anywhere.

Techventure 2014: A Chance to Pitch Investors From Google Ventures and Monk’s Hill Ventures – HK Startups Get 10% Off Tickets

Hong Kong startups seeking their next round of funding should consider Singapore’s upcoming ‘Techventure 2014.’

The three-day conference, organised by the National Research Foundation, will include a tour to Blk 71, which the Economist has called “the world’s most tightly-packed entrepreneurial ecosystem,” and keynotes from YouTube co-founder Steve Chen and Evernote CEO Phil Libin.

Visiting startups will also have the chance to take part in pitch competitions and business match-making – such as the ‘Techventure Connect 180,’ an accelerated match-making session facilitated by the conference app (yes, Techventure has developed an app for startup-investor speed dating). In each matching round, Startups will have 180 seconds to impress investors from the likes of Sequoia Capital, Google Ventures, Monk’s Hill Ventures and Golden Gate Ventures, just to name a few.

Hong Kong Startups Looking for Investment Can Apply Now for ‘Nest Pitch Day’ to Access HK$100 Million Fund

The next ‘NEST Pitch Day’ is coming up on Saturday, 6 September!

The investment incubator, who has invested in local mobile startups such as personalized t-shirt designer Snaptee in the past, runs these pitch events to back disruptive and scalable early-stage startups headquartered in Asia.

According to an interview we did with CEO Simon Squibb earlier this year, NEST follows the American seed accelerator ‘Y Combinator’ model and has invested over HK $30 million into startups in the past. According to Simon, the incubator plans on injecting over HK $100 million into the local startup scene within the next 18-24 months.
