We’ve seen pitch events offered to Hong Kong startups from all over the world – from Moscow to Zurich to Boracay to Kelowna, British Columbia – but this one has to be the nicest: Honolulu, Hawaii!

Blue Startups, Hawaii’s first tech venture accelerator, has officially launched registration for East Meets West 2014 (EMW’14)! This is a groundbreaking event for Hawaii that will bring together entrepreneurs and investors from Asia and the United States. This year’s theme is “Digital Lifestyle” – the innovative and disruptive ways in which technology complements all facets of daily living.

A signature piece of this event is the East Meets West Pitch contest. Blue Startups are looking for five to ten teams from North America and five to ten teams from Asia to pitch to attendants and panel of judges. The judge’s panel will include prominent investors from 500 Startups, The Hong Kong Angel Network, TPG Capital, SCRUM Ventures in Japan, Bootstrap Labs, and Blue Startups.

One team from East Asia and one team from North America will be selected as winners. These teams will receive benefits worth over US$100,000 as well as international media coverage and one on one private consultation with corporate sponsors and investors.

The goal of East Meets West is to build bridges between the startup communities across the Pacific. They share StartupsHK’s commitment to supporting startups and admire our role in Hong Kong’s ecosystem. Another cool thing is that StartupsHK’s Casey Lau will be speaking at the event and will be there to promote Hong Kong startups to the attendees.
