Last week was TechInAsia.com‘s big startup event Startup Asia 2013 Singapore – and it was 2-days of panels and pitches from across the region giving amazing insight into the startup scene from Japan and China all the way to Indonesia and Thailand.
Over 100 startups pitched it out in Startup Alley and only 20 of those made it to the main stage of Startup Arena – and of those 20, 2 were from Hong Kong: SocialAgent and LotsOfButtons!
Competing against amazing startups from around the region – there can be only one winner and it came down to Hong Kong’s own LotsofButtons.com that took the top prize of US$10K in cash and the first HK startup to win Startup Arena!
We’re very proud of both Micheal Michelini of SocialAgent.me and Ken Lee of LotsOfButtons.com for representing Hong Kong in such a big regional event and for Ken for showing up the naysayers who chuckle after they hear the domain name and then get slapped in the face by the awesomeness of the pitch.
You can read more coverage of the win on TechInAsia.com here. Congrats Ken – we hear there is more money coming your way soon from hungry investors that are looking for lots of buttons!
We’re going to do a sharing session next week in Hong Kong so stay tuned to details.
I don’t want to be cynical but you’re saying the BEST Asian start-up out of 100 pitches was an e-commerce site that sells buttons? Really?
