Simon Squibb, CEO of NEST, an investment incubator based in Hong Kong tells us about a new bootcamp he is putting together for the Hong Kong community:
Having been an angel investor for over 18 years, I have invested both time and money in a lot of entrepreneurs from all over the world, and have seen many startups come and go. At my start up incubator NEST, we invest both time and money in promising entrepreneurial talent.
To date, we have invested in at least 20 companies here but would like to double that number to 40 or even 50 in 2014.
To ensure this is possible, NEST has teamed up with General Assembly to create an intensive 5 Day Startup MBA Bootcamp. It is high time we empowered Hong Kong’s entrepreneurs with the skill-set that will enable them to succeed.
Entrepreneurs have to be passionate about their ideas, and are in the game not because they want to make a fortune but because they truly believe in what they are doing. If an entrepreneur is just ambivalent or mildly enthused about his product or service, that level of commitment is not going to sustain him through the highs and lows that will inevitably occur.
Essential business skills such as Minimum Viable Product philosophy will be taught as participants test and validate ideas. Structured guidance in market analysis and metrics will allow students to take a product from being probable to profitable.
There will be a chance to hone entrepreneurs’ Pitching Skills that are often overlooked. These skills can be put to use on NEST’s Pitch Day on December 7th where students will have a chance to win real investment and support from angel investors and NEST’s partners.
I believe that Hong Kong’s entrepreneurs are ready to rise up to the challenge of building successful, scalable start ups in this uniquely international and metropolitan city. Do you?
NEST and General Assembly will co-host their new accelerated Start Up MBA Bootcamp Program from December 2 – 7, 2013. The 5-day intensive course will support the local startup ecosystem by empowering entrepreneurs with the necessary and valuable business skills behind creating a new product and bringing it to market.
On December 7, participants will be given the opportunity to win real investment and support from angel investors and partners. For more information about the program, please contact Jessica Cheung at [email protected].
