BootUp 2: The Startup Weekend Teams
Congratulations to the 6 startups that put an entire business plan together over 48 hours at BootUp 2!
These people had the stamina and the ideas to pull together and create some of the most exciting startups that we’ve seen and definitely impressed us more than BootUp 1 – and those were awesome too, but these ones seemed polished and all the presentations were done perfectly.
We’ll be posting more photos and videos here over time but we wanted to do shout-outs to each of the teams first (in alphabetical order):

We were amazed at the ideas that came out of 48 hours – all of these startups can go on to be real businesses rivaling anything out of Silicon Valley and we understand one of the participants quit his job this morning and is going full time on his start-up! So awesome and so inspiring.
More information coming soon and if you want to get involved next time – the NEXT BootUp will be around May/June.
BootUp 2: Day One of the Startup Weekend is in full swing aka And then there were five!
Unlike The Apprentice, BootUp doesn’t need Donald Trump to fire people – sometimes startups unravel all by themselves.
Of the 6 startups founded last night, 1 has already collapsed under the pressure. It seems the 3 person team couldn’t agree on the focus of the business and decided to part ways.
But the other 5 are going STRONG! Jon Buford has been mentoring the startups since 9am today and by the time Casey (me) and Gene Soo got there in the late afternoon all of them had sound business models and plans – some were still deciding on the name, one had already designed a character mascot and another had changed their Zero Day concept into something even more exciting.
So it seems the first full day was very productive and we’ll see what happens tomorrow at 5pm when we do our judging! Enjoy a few photos – and yes Boot is relatively tidy, and I only spotted one beer can!
