We held our first Demo Night on Tuesday (Feb 8th 2011) at Pure in Soho and it was a huge success with a soldout crowd of over 110 people attending. We will be having Demo Night quarterly from now on and we have chosen this one to be held in the middle of Social Media Week.

The night started off with Jon Buford (co-founder of StartupsHK) introducing StartupsHK, BootHK and of course our recently released site, Techisland.hk, which helps to connect startups with people who want to work for startups.

We would like to thank all the participants that attended, especially all the startups that presented.

On this first Demo Night, there were 28 startups that presented. Out of these 28 startups, one of them, Taxizu, was the result of the first BootUP! Here is the list of 28 startups that presented that night:

Echelon 2011: June 11-12 Singapore

Last year’s Echelon was great, you can see posts here:

http://startupshk.posterous.com/?sort=&search=echelon

This was the first opportunity I had to meet up with startups from around the region, and it has been valuable for me in understanding what the market is like in others Asian countries. They had great speakers from all over the world.

If you are a web or mobile company, consider either attending the conference or applying for the Launchpad.

From the site:

Echelon 2011 will be a two-day, double-track event that happens in Singapore in June with an expected attendance of more than 1,000 delegates; a demo pit of more than 40 startups and companies; and workshops and fringe events.

Key Dates

Jan–Mar 2011: Call for submissions from startups throughout Asia, focusing on Southeast Asia

April 2011: Satellite echelon in Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore

June 11–12, 2011: echelon 2011 at University Cultural Centre, National University of Singapore
