Increase Email DeliverabilitySendGrid transparently handles DKIM, SPF, ISP rate limits, content inspection, bounces, and spam reports to help users achieve higher deliverability. SendGrid integrates in minutes by just changing three SMTP settings. We even assign our users their own IP addresses.

sendgrid helps you increase email delivery – the non free/basic plans gives you a specific IP so your reputation is purely yours. i think you can just replace your SMTP with theirs for this to work, got statics tracking and stuff to boot!
Have you used this? I am looking for a new one.
I signed up this morning and have played around their free version. No problem getting delivered so far, and the statistics are practically real time. The stat tracking isn’t anything crazy, but it’s a simple integration for any system that allows SMTP mail sending settings.I could use something like Thunderbird to send plain emails to get tracking on that too, so if you want to get spooky and see if that special someone read your email (thought not totally reliable) it’s just using a different SMTP server for that. Easy switch.
And we find yet another improved stalking technique available on the web. ;)This is a locally based solution that I met up with at the expo last week: http://www.actuallive.com/ Their big thing is supporting a full range of character sets over, say, Constant Contact.
that actuallive thing looks promising for tracking – but i’ll be freaked out if i get an invitation to “chat” from a live person who’s watching my every move while visiting a website 😛
Oh, wait, oops, I posted the wrong company, that one has software that helps enable live support. The local email management one is: http://en.reasonablespread.com/ They shared a booth at the show, so I switched up the companies.
I gave sendgrid a whirl on different characters… tested traditional chinese, simplified chinese, korean, japanese, hebrew, arabic all in the same email and it came back just as expectednot surprising because it just replaces the SMTP layer – character support is still depending on the software / web apps used
Actually, come to think of it, I guess this is not really as much for marketing as it is for customer notices from a system (potentially). I can see that we would possibly have trouble with sending out say task notices to customers without something like this.
yea have had experiences where people weren’t getting email notification of things they purchased on an online shop – not goodthose people will jump ship any moment for things like this
Is it cost effective at all? Are there any alternatives?
not cheap, but deliverability really good apparently, and easy to integrate as well (just substitute SMTP info)you should sign up a free account to try, it’s definitely worth looking into… don’t have any alternatives to name that i’ve used
Some people use authsmtp as I know but it seems much more expensive…
I've been using their free accounts for both my personal sending and for our testing, and it seems to do what they say it does.
I’ve used both iContact and Mailchimp which are similarily priced and both are great. Mailchimp’s is super cool though with bouncy pie charts and a slick interface.BUT Sendgrid looks like a better alternative for those that DONT send out all the time since you buy CREDITS and not a MONTHLY PLAN like most other places. So that SILVER plan could last you a year and then its very cost effective – so I might use that for my iPhone company and stick to the other ones for more email blasting of my blogs.
I found another service called Madmimi. Its plan is based on contacts instead of number of emails. Maybe good if it is used to send many user notifications – http://developer.madmimi.com/
do u know any sendgrid alternative
Mailchimp? There are a few, just Google it, but it depends on what you are looking for.
