The Updated Final 6 Ideas in Brief:

Appcyclr

An app that allows you to scan your bottled drink and find out the closest recycling bin and gives you points when you check in at them to redeem for more drinks/snacks from participating outlets.

Rate Your Doctor 醫訊

If I am hungry and want to eat, I can go to OpenRice.com. But what if I am sick and need to see a doctor? RateYourDoctor.com is a web-based information sharing platform for anyone to share their “doctor experience” with the world. Patients can comment and rate the service quality, attitude, punctuation, professionalism etc. on the website, while potential patients can visit the website to find out which doctor(s) may be suitable to them. RateYourDoctor.com (can be an application) is also a potential platform for individuals to share their treatment experience/milestone with others, putting emphasis on how long they waited before obtaining an appointment, and the amount of time they waited to be referred to a specialist in the public healthcare system.

GoodSeeds

The potential and culture of crowdfunding is stronger than ever, as the internet, mobile applications and social media become more prevalent as the basis for funding microfinance (Kiva, now defunct Wokai), innovative projects/products (Kickstarter, Fringebacker, Dreamna) and charity (Weibo). Rising Asia is ripe for a platform in which to showcase and fund social innovation across the region and to allow its citizentry to participate, direct and feel empowered as being part of the solution. Once established, GoodSeeds would be a scaleable platform that utilises mobile technology such as GPS to benefit local solutions especially across emerging markets around the globe

Have a Taste

“Have a Taste” is a experience discovery & sharing platform, which integrated with FB with a focuses on experience of “doing social good”. Producer can be a volunteer, participants, or representative of a SE/NGO who regularly share photo of their specific “doing social good” experience. Supporter can choose a specific producer or topic e.g. poverty and the relevant photo will appear on their wall (both our own platform & FB wall). Photo taken should be has a first person view so supporter can feel like having a taste of the experience himself, and decide to join it in real world later on! Every photo will have a “call for action” & website link so Supporter’s friends who see the photo can also easily support and even participate.

Volunteer Knowledge Exchange( IThelps.org.hk / IThelps.hk )

It could mean “IT helps organizations in HK” or “IT helps HK”. It is a platform for charities/NGO to keep track of their IT related information and other “semi-IT” information (e.g. social media). It has to be secure, easy-to-use and allow for well-documented best practice. On top of a platform, eventually we hope this to grow to a community for IT experts to help the charities. So the project will start with a web app and then expand to grow the community.

Apparatus

Apparatus turns complains from stinky hot air into positive action. When encountering a reason to complain about an organization, either being the victim of a system error or a lost soul in the complexity of procedures, you can use your Apparatus-App to speak out loud. By using the app you can make sure that your complaint will be heard by those that steer the organisation. Next to bundling (anonymously) the input and sharing it with the relevant departments of the organizations, Apparatus also names, blames and shames those organizations that cause mischief. And it will only take you a minute.
