After kicking tail and taking names at two Singapore-hosted tech conferences this year, our startups have yet another opportunity to make us proud.
At the upcoming TechCrunch Beijing 2014 themed ‘The Red Hardware’, Cyberport is offering a one-day booth (valued at RMB $5,000) to their subscribers for free. Besides showcasing their products, startups will also have a chance to enter into ‘Startup Competition.’ More details on that here.
In terms of eligibility for ‘Startup Competition,’ they’re looking for companies specializing in the technology, media and telecommunications field (TMT) that are in talks to raise a Series A round and are launching for the first time to the public and the press. Preference will be given to innovative, new model ideas (not copied into China), and while hardware products are favored, software is certainly welcome.
Going with the hardware-centric theme, Hong Kong will certainly have a competitive edge in the ‘Smart Hardware Pavilion’ showcase. If your startup is more software or service focused, the two-day showcase is also open to gaming or other web services companies as well. According to the event site, the large-scale event’s goal is to help early stage companies less than two years old with no more than $1 million in funding.
