Social Innovation Camp comes to Hong Kong 25-27th October!
Hey, change makers around the city! Startup Hong Kong, Bonza Pie and Softlayer are excited to bring Social Innovation Camp to Hong Kong. This month 25-27th, we’re bringing some of the best of Hong Kong’s software developers, designers, business minds to meet those at the sharp end of social problems.
They’ll have just 48 hours to build web or mobile-based solutions to the following 6 ideas- the creme-de-la-creme of ideas that were submitted from all over the island:
1. Short term income generation for refugees and domestic helpers- a mobile-focused platform for short term projects structured to make some form of economic value generation possible for refugees and domestic helpers within regulatory boundaries.
2. Appcyclr – Find your nearest recycling bin. Rewards when you recycle!
3. Travel Buddies – Wire the disabled to a traveller across the globe to “travel” via their avatar.
4. Rate Your Doctor – Rate and review your doctor experience, share it with the rest of the world.
5. EC Point – Link those with excess belongings to those who need them, virtually.
6.Volunteer me – Marketplace for those in need of volunteers and those who want to give help.

In addition to the technical boost from hooking these ideas up to designers, developers, business minds, the ideas will further benefit from mentorship by accomplished entrepreneurs:
- Jochen, Chairman of Forest House Waldorf School Charity and a co-founder of Ecopoint, an online platform for green & clean business.
- Raiyo, MD Asia for Angels Den
- Sue Kim, co-founder of Libbler
- Elaine Ann, CEO of Kaizor Innovation
- Athena Lam, Program Manager at Sow Asia Foundation
The top team from Hong Kong will face off with other top teams from 7 other Asian cities at the end of November for a final regional camp in Singapore.
If you are a geek, designer or change maker and would like to help realise these ideas at Retro Spot, 25-27 October, sign up for the camp!
